Leland Foundation
About the Foundation
Founded during the 1997-1998 school year by Leland High School parents and alumni, the Leland Foundation is committed to helping students and educators prepare for the demands and opportunities of the 21st century. The focus is to improve academic achievement through excellence in education at Leland High School.
The Foundation was built on the recognition that the world is changing at "Internet" speed, presenting new challenges and opportunities and placing unprecedented demands on today’s students. The Foundation believes that added resources can make a good public school even better in delivering the needed skills. Similar efforts have been launched at other high performing schools in Silicon Valley, increasing the competitive pressure. The Foundation vision is to transform Leland High School into an innovative educational environment that delivers a variety of forward-thinking solutions with traditional courses offered in innovative ways, using technology as a tool, to provide students with excellence in education and a competitive advantage. The groundwork for this transformation effort has been laid over the last several years. With resources raised by the Foundation, Leland High School students today have access to many state-of-the-art computers and an innovative curriculum utilizing technology in classroom. Completion of the new Information Technology Center will become a centerpiece of the Foundation’s vision for Leland High School. All of these development efforts at Leland High School are directed today by a Transformation Board of Directors, which was also created by the efforts of the Leland Foundation. Vision Statement
